Jairzinho
Strong as a bull, Jairzinho was long the terror of the opponents defenders. Valente, fast and abused, and awakened the despair faced rivals in that only had a way to stop it: with violence. But it was not easy to overthrow him. The connection of this impish striker with Botafogo began in the late 50s, when the family of Jair Ventura Filho swapped the municipality of Duque de Caxias in Rio. Morando on Rua General Severiano, side of the Botafogo, soon he was auditioning in basic categories of Glorious. In 1965, just exiting the juvenile, Jairzinho faced a difficult task: to replace Garrincha Botafogo. At age 19, appeared a new idol of the mythical 7 shirt. Jairzinho lacked the baffling dribbles of Garrincha, but their goals and their uprooted soon became their registered trademark. Solid, efficient, Jairzinho, the same year that his debut in the professional Alvinegro, was named to replace Garrincha also in the national team. In the second half of the 60s and early 70s, was right name on any list. In Mexico in 1970, was the top scorer of Brazil, with 7 goals, scoring in every game. Earned the nickname Hurricane Cup, for his devastating performance. In 413 appearances for Botafogo, he scored 186 goals, winning the bi-bi Carioca and Guanabara Cup (1967/68) and two Rio-São Paulo Tournament (1964 and 1966). Played in three World Cups (66, 70 and 74) and was champion once (1970). Jair Ventura Filho was born on 25/12/1944, in Rio de Janeiro and, apart from Botafogo, played for clubs such as Olympique de Marseille, France; Cruise, the Portuguese acarigua, Venezuela; Northwest of Bauru; Fast Manaus; Jorge Wilsterman, Bolivia; Nine October, Ecuador. In the selection, made 107 appearances and scored 44 goals.
